Today is the birthday of DeWitt Wallace, founder and initial editor of The Reader's Digest, born in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 12, 1889. The Wallace portrait at right is part of an exhibit on the history of the magazine running through January 2011 at the New Castle Historical Society in Chappaqua, New York. Wallace died in 1981, at age 91.
