…in 1924, Harvey Kurtzman, first editor of Mad magazine (in its comic book format) was born. Among other achievements, Kurtzman is credited with introducing Mad coverboy Alfred E. Neuman. Kurtzman later edited humor magazines such as Trump (a short-lived Hugh Hefner project not associated with The Donald) and Help! (a magazine having nothing to do with the Beatles movie, published by James Warren, of Famous Monsters of Filmland fame). Kurtzman died in 1993.
