It was on this day (May 6) in 1954 that Forbes magazine founder Bertie Charles Forbes, better known as B.C., died in New York City. He was 73.
Forbes, who seems to have had something pithy to say about everything, once made this observation about dying: "The writer knows that too many men of vast affairs are blind to the realities, the worthwhile things of life, and do not acquire a correct perspective until they feel themselves slipping toward the grave."
